I’m currently at Pinewood Studios on the set of the new Bond film, which until now has had a working title of Bond 22. I’ll post more about my experiences behind the scenes on Bond tomorrow, but first I wanted to reveal that the official title of the new movie is Quantum Of Solace.
Due for release in November, the follow-up to Casino Royale stars Daniel Craig as James Bond and Dame Judi Dench as M, with newcomer Olga Kurylenko as Bond girl Camille.

having read most of the fleming bond books i think that dc played the character as it should have been played and as written by fleming who was ex oss

I really enjoyed Casino Royale and thought that Daniel Craig was brilliant but then I also loved Goldeneye and thought that Pierce Brosnan was the best Bond since Connery (never been a Moore fan sorry) then came the other Brosnan films which were far from spectacular. I just hope that this Quantum of Solace is a worthy follow up to Casino Royale and not just another Tomorrow Never Dies, World Is Not Enough et al.
Its true what they say, you can\’t please every one all the time – DC was the best of who was available to play a new JB at the time, and to be fair, he pulled it off… all the comments above are valid but to be a real fan you really should read the books as JB is a much darker character than the films portary. Connery was great, Moore was smooth but Brosnan had the lot – if you look past his first outing as JB he moved on with all the right attributes you\’d expect JB to have. DC has taken the role now as Bond starting his career, not as an JB that\’s been in the job a while so people should look at that and judge it accordingly… the name is a grower so give it time – there\’s plenty of mileage in the franchise yet so have faith people – Bond\’s here to say and so he should be!
I think some people are being a bit unfair to brosnan and his films. I liked all of them and the only one that wasnt brilliant was die another day as the ending was stupid with the CGI. I dont like D.C all that much as hes too dark and cold and whatever happened to john cleese as Q? Pierce brosnan had everything and i dont think the bond series needs changing after all die another day made 400 million and casino royale made 600 million , probably because it was getting good reviews as it was D.Cs first bond. So why does it need to change or stop?
I have just seen Daniel Craig filming Quantum Of Solace at a private airport where I work. He looked as good as ever and I can\’t wait to see the film.
The excitement over Daniel being here became quite hysterical he certainly made a few ladies hearts beat faster!

I was in the same year at school as DC and he used to mince around the playground then with a really geeky guy. I remember we were all made to listen to his rendition of "House of the rising Sun" in the assembly hall – for what reason I don\’t know. His permanent pout is ridiculous , and he looks like some gay icon. He\’s only as good as his last film, and when the Bond producers get tired of him they dump him for the next big thing. Good luck him!

Bond movies are predictable,cliched and boring.DC may be a talented actor and fills the role adequately but the franchise is tired and so inferior to productions such as the Bourne productions.
The title is rubbish. Pierce Brosnan and Timothy Dalton were easily the best Bonds. Even in a dinner suit Sean Connery looked like a lorry driver not a spy. Roger Moore was a clown and George Lazenby was better than both of them. I am a fan of Bond films but I have to agree that the Bourne films are far superior in every way. I reserve judgement on Daniel Craig, although not too impressed so far, but I definately think that the Bond films have lost the plot by going back to the beginning.

To all those who are saying that Quantum of Solace doesn\’t sound very "bond"…..are you actually aware that it\’s the title of an actual bond story, as was Casino Royale. DC\’s bond is trying to go back more to the roots of the books as they felt they couldn\’t do much more with the whole tongue in cheek bond that has been so famous, which is perhaps partly why some of the later ones weren\’t quite as good. Casino Royale was probably the closest to Ian Fleming\’s bond that they\’ve ever made into a decent film. Timothy Dalton tried it and it just didn\’t work. What you mean by not very "bond" is actually "not very "movie bond".
Amazed at the negativity levelled at both Daniel Craig and the title to the new film. Prior to Casino Royale I couldn\’t see past Pierce Brosnan – suave, tough and with the ability to deliver the one liners (a modern day Connery). Roger Moore lasted the longest with his slapstick Bond. Dalton and Lazenby were just very poor choices, although in Dalton\’s defence, he did have the restraint of a PC script.
The decision to ditch Brosnan for Craig, and to go back to the start, removing the gadgets,quips etc. was brave, but worked remarkably well in my eyes. The slate is now clean, and this allows the writers & Craig to develop Bond into a 21st century spy.
Remember, Bond is a phenomena. Bond cannot be compared to a Bourne or a MI, only to another Bond. Long live Bond and I can\’t wait for November!
In response to williams comment about inferior productions i give u a virtual slap! Bourne beating bond doubtful! With the recline of bond towards the end of the brosnan years and the poor choice of director(Lee Thamamori- director of XXX) for die another day we began to see the downward spiral of bond into a tired franchise ear marked with the constant shadow of 1960\’s ideology, drink women and danger. However in a modern world of cinema, one in which an audience enjoys character driven performance roles as well as breathtaking action sequences could you not agree that casino royale was not only a step in the right direction, but also a giant leap over many modern films of the same genre such as the bourne series. James bond is a cinematic icon and a British national treasure, the fictional works of a British spy (Flemming) Which has captured the imagination of audiences and readers across the globe. The series may have began to slip away from its zenith but i think audiences are set to once agin break the box office records for highest grocing movies this september. And just to reiterate that ongoing line that roles up at the end of the credits….James Bond Will Return! For those who think that "Quantum of Solace" is not a "Bond-type" title that doesn\’t inspire them, it is in fact the title of a Bond short story written by Ian Fleming and included in the collection of short stories published as "for Your Eyes Only", another title from there being "From A View To A Kill". The only two remaining titles that have not yet been used are "Risico" and "The Hildebrand Rarity" – presumably to be used in the future.
Having been around for a number of years and having read ALL the Bond stories printed, not only by Ian Fleming but also by John Gardner and others all I can say is that Fleming created Bond as a killer, and as such DC has done a splendid job in getting that fact across, as did Sean Connery in his day.

I think DC played a great bond….alot more aggressive and cold, the way I would visualise a ex service man, SAS, or Para etc. Dont get me wrong Sean Connery was excellent, but it got a bit too much with Roger Moore and the terrible jokes and gadgets.. Timothy Dalton was just too wooden, even my fence could act better, I think DC, brings a much more ruthless agent to our screens, no bullshit, what you see is what you get and he actually bleeds when he gets hit….Pierce Brossnan was good but a bit limp wristed in my eyes…too good looking and not rough and tough enough to carry out the tasks with reality….Im also glad in a way that the villains are more realistic in Casino Royale, not someone building a secret lair in a volcano, with monorail and sliding roof , launchin rockets into space and nobody has any idea of where he was operating from!! bit too far fetched. Didnt the local builders merchant get a bit suspicious when Blowfeld ordered millions of tons of concrete, sliding roof materials, mono rails etc…and the local job centre for a few hundered henchmen with shooting skills? Carry on Daniel, got my vote….

Each Bond actor has brought something different to the concept and each cannot be compared. Roger Moore was as different to Daniel Craig as you can get. The same is completely true for their acting style. I think they are all brilliant. Don\’t take it too seriously and just enjoy 90 mins plus of escapism. Don\’t worry about the finer details, just take it for what it is, which is lots of explosions, very attractive females, a plot (of sorts) and a lot of fantasy… The same goes for Indiana, Bourne, Mission Impossible. IF YOU DON\’T LIKE IT, DON\’T WATCH IT, VIEWING IS NOT MANDATORY!

This next film sounds too soppy for me. He married Tracy in "On Her Majesty\’s Secret Service" and she was shot and he swore never to love again.
